The Colorado Buffaloes Men’s Basketball team opened their season on Friday night by dominating the Sacramento State Hornets, 90-53. Arguably the deepest team in Head Coach Tad Boyle’s tenure, the Buffs proved that their balance is their greatest strength.

Boyle used a 10-man rotation that clicked offensively all night, shooting 53% from the field and 61% from behind the three point line. CU shared the ball all night, accumulating 20 assists to just 10 turnovers. Each of the 10 players made at least three field goals while no one attempted over 10.

RS-SR G Derrick White made his much anticipated Colorado debut and finished with 9pts, 4asts and 2rebs, while being limited by an ankle injury suffered in practice. Also making his return the floor was RS-SR G/F Xavier Johnson who returned from a torn achilles with 6pts and 7rebs. JR G Dominique Collier came off the bench to lead CU in scoring with 12pts on 4-6 shooting from behind the arc.

It was a good start to the 2016-2017 Season for the Buffs who were picked to finish 5th in the Pac-12 Conference in the preseason. Colorado returns to action on Monday night at 7pm MT at the Coors Event Center when they welcome the Seattle University Redhawks.
