The Volvo Irish Sailing Awards 2019 will be held on 8 February 2019 at the Society of Royal Dublin, Dublin. The event is one of its kinds where the fines sailors of the world collect and are acknowledged and rewarded for their achievements.
The award ceremony has a number of felicitations like Sailor of the Year, Sailing Youth of the Year, Best Training Centre, Best Senior Instructor, Best Sustainability and Youth Sailor.
The award for the Best Sailor of the Year is taken up from the list of the best Sailors of the Month. The award for the “Sailor of the Year” is given to individuals who are sailors under the age of 18. These young sailors are needed to have received awards regarding them for excellent performance for representing their country (Ireland) on an international level. The nominations of this year were found to be Rian McDonnell, Tom Higgins, and Nell Staunton.
The award function is a great platform to represent talent and recognize it to inspire other sailors throughout the world. In the case of the award for Irish Instructor of the Year in sailing where one is acknowledged for having exceptional qualities in management and skills. These awards have been given based on regions. Andrew from the Sailing Club of Mayo won in the Western Region Category, Ellen from Outdoor Education Centre and Fastnet Marine won from the category confining to the Southern Region, and Alex from the Sailing Club of Blessington.
The Volvo Sailing (Irish) over the years has always found pride in this event. The tickets for the event are available online and almost 100 renowned personalities are going to be adding to the event’s pride in the invitees. Treasa, Head chief of Communications at Sailing (Irish) said that she believes that these awards help in setting standards for having quality sailors and setting leadership standards for instructors.
