Introducing a new series on 5280 Sports Network, Face to Face, where Mat Smith goes 1 on 1 with different CU Student Athletes to get their perspectives and get to know the people behind the uniform.
In the inaugural edition, Mat Smith goes 1 on 1 with JR CB Isaiah Oliver. He is the #1 Cornerback for the 2017 Buffs in addition to being a two-time All-Pac-12 performer in the decathlon as a member of the CU’s outdoor track team.
In fact, as a sophomore in the California Invitational, he had posted the highest score by a CU decathlete in 43 years in rolling up 7,331 points in finishing third until topping it at the Pac-12 multis.
Heading into his Junior year, Isaiah is poised to break out for the Buffaloes. Pro Football Focus ranked Oliver eighth on its list of top 10 players in the Pac-12 returning in 2017 and Athlon Sports selected him as a preseason second-team All-Pac-12 performer as a cornerback and to its fourth-team as a punt returner.
